Big Project? No Problem

If you could take a two-month project, reduce it to one month and require half the manpower, how much money would you save? That is exactly what we have done for hundreds of customers who were using driven steel sheeting but could have used slide rail shoring instead as a clear alternative and effective economical solution. Sometimes, conventional sheeting is the answer. However, when slide rail systems can be used instead, you can save money using less equipment and less manpower while eliminating the need for vibratory hammers, cranes and specialty equipment. This means you can do more with less.

We understand that many of our customers own steel trench boxes, but not every project is in stable soil. When a project is more complex than just a hole in the ground and calls for a little something extra, this is where ICON’s solutions can be invaluable. We have worked on thousands of projects which range from small house connections to complicated pipe projects that are not only deep but have utility crossings, building surcharges and overhead restrictions as well.  Let our in- house P.E. engineering department design the perfect system for you with stamping in every state and certified professionals that specialize in underground shoring only, We provide outstanding service that the cookie-cutter, “any equipment you need” companies can’t.

As a Direct Manufacturer, we cut out the middleman and Save you Money

Pump Station Success!

MR Excavator out of Kirtland, OH was tasked with the difficult installation of a deep concrete pump station on an ODOT Maintenance Facility in Cleveland, OH.  ICON equipment worked closely with the contractor as well as the consultants on this project and recommended the use of a 4 Sided Slide Rail Shoring System on this project due to the depth of excavation and the soil conditions which ruled out Conventional Trench Shields .  ICON’s Slide Rail System is an “Active” tight sheeting system versus a Trench Shield with corner pins that is a 4 sided shield and not an actively installed shoring system.   ICON’s Slide Rail System uses a dig and push method of installation and allows you to easily excavate and shore as you go deeper.

“The Installation went quickly.  ICON dispatched one of our trained and proven Shoring Technicians on site to work with the contractors installation crew from start to finish which made the installation go off without a hitch.  We look forward to many more successful deep excavation projects in the Northeast Ohio area with this company as well as others in the future.” Said Tim Molinski, Midwest Shoring Consultant for ICON Equipment.

Gas Main Tie-In Safely Completed Ahead of Schedule!

Gas Main Tie-In: Wilmington, DE

The contractor reached out to Icon Equipment to see if a representative would meet with him on site to discuss his shoring options.  He had both overhead and underground utility interference that restricted him from using a large excavator; he needed something light-weight so he could use a smaller machine.  The Icon representative suggested he use a series of aluminum trench boxes in “T” configuration that would allow him to safely perform the gas main tie-in in a cost effective manner.  The Gas company representatives were very pleased with the choice of shoring and satisfied the project was completed ahead of schedule.

ICON’s Slide Rail Shoring System cuts project time in half in Silver Springs, MD!

The low-bid contractor sought out Icon Equipment to assist them with their support of excavation for a remedial action plan.  An Icon Rep met with the contractor on site to review site plans and discuss shoring options for this particular area of concern.  There were several existing buildings and underground utilities near the excavation that could not be damaged or relocated so Icon recommended the contractor use a 42’L x 20.50’W x 20’H Environmental System that allowed them to maneuver the system in a manner as to not damage the existing buildings or utilities.  The contractor anticipated this work being completed in (1) month, but with Icon’s Environmental System, he was able to complete the project in (2) weeks!

Your Participation is Requested!

As a proud Founding Member of the North American Excavation Shoring Association (NAXSA), Icon Equipment would like to invite your company to participate in a Toolbox Talk during the “2018 Trench Safety Stand Down Week” from June 18-23.  For your participation, your company/organization will receive a certificate as well as hard hat stickers for all employees who participate.  Recognition will also be given in a press release, and NUCA and NAXSA publications.

These Stand Down Toolbox Talks will focus on trench & excavation hazards and reinforce the importance of using trench protective systems and protecting workers from trenching hazards.

What are the Stand Down Goals?  The goal is to reach out to the many workers who work in and around trenches and excavations to provide them with information about current excavation requirements and safety procedures for working in trenches. By reaching as many workers as possible we can reduce the number of fatalities and serious injuries that occur each year in our industry, and make others, such as municipal and industry workers who are also exposed, aware of these serious hazards.

Please click this link for more info www.naxsa.org/tssd and contact your Sales Rep to set up your Toolbox Talk!

We hope to see you there.

Unique Shoring Challenges Faced Head-On!

Icon Equipment was called on to supply over 200 LF of trench shoring for a steam line project in Boston.  The 12’ deep, 14’ wide excavation presented several challenges.  In addition to a tight and busy jobsite, there were several existing utility crossings and the 200’+ run included three 90 degree turns.  The sight constraints required that Icon coordinate deliveries of only the equipment that was to be installed in the next two work days.  The utility crossings were easily handled with Icon’s Waler Frame and Utility Panel system.

To tackle the 90 degree turns, Icon provided its Internal Corner Rails and Standard Corner Rails which allow a seamless transition of Slide Rail installation through the turns in the excavation.

The next time your shoring needs present a unique challenge, call Icon Equipment to provide fast, cost effective solutions.
